A course that explains!

People afraid of flying are usually afraid of the unknown: sounds they don't recognize, movements they interpret as problems, maneuvers they fear are pilot errors. Receiving the same information from a professional pilot and then experiencing it in the cockpit of a simulator is one of the most effective educational approaches to reduce flying anxiety. If you need it, we can pair the course with optional psychological support (we'll discuss this together before your enrollment).

It works because…

  • It replaces fear of the unknown with precise technical knowledge, explained by a professional pilot from our team
  • It privileges facts over emotional reassurance: you'll understand what noises, turbulence and maneuvers really are, and why they're not danger indicators
  • It puts you firsthand at the controls of the Boeing 737-800NG to see how the aircraft really reacts — you don't watch a video, you fly it
  • It's designed for adults motivated to fly again or fly better, and concretely prepares you for the next trip you've postponed
  • It combines theory training (3 hours) and a 1:1 replica cockpit simulator (1 hour) in a single 4-hour day — no long programs nor recurring commitments
  • It is always run by a professional pilot from the Simulation Project Team — not an anonymous manual nor a faceless training company
  • If needed, we can add optional psychological support: we agree on it together in the briefing before enrollment

What happens, minute by minute, in 4 hours.

Knowing the plan, hour by hour, is itself a first antidote to anticipatory anxiety. No surprises.

0:00 – 0:3030 min

Getting to know each other and mapping your fear

We start by understanding where your fear comes from: turbulence, takeoff, landing, feeling out of control, claustrophobia? Every fear has a different technical answer. We map your specific triggers so the rest of the day is tailored to you.

0:30 – 1:3060 min

Anatomy of a Boeing 737 — what really flies

Clear technical explanation: how an aircraft flies, why wings don't break in turbulence, what those noises at takeoff are (gear, flaps, engines), how pressurization works. We do this live, in the cockpit, pointing at the real controls.

1:30 – 2:3060 min

What the pilot does when "something happens"

Real procedures for the situations that scared you (turbulence, crosswind, engine on/off, ground delays): what the pilot is thinking, what checks they run, why the aircraft is designed to fly safely even if a system fails. We debunk common myths without being patronizing.

2:30 – 3:3060 min at the simulator

You at the controls of the Boeing 737-800NG

The part that makes the difference: you sit in the captain's seat and fly. Takeoff, turn, controlled turbulence handling, landing. You see with your own hands how the aircraft responds, that maneuvers are wide and gradual, that body sensations are not danger indicators. It's the shift from passive passenger to informed participant.

3:30 – 4:0030 min

Plan for your next flight

We close by concretely defining your next real flight: what to do the night before, at boarding, during takeoff and cruise. We give you a personal checklist you can consult in flight, with our contacts if you have technical questions before departure.

Who will be with you.

Courses are always run by professional pilots from the Simulation Project team who will guide you throughout the entire course.

Fear of flying courses manager:
Stefano Carniti, pilot and founder of Simulation Project, in the Boeing 737-800NG simulator cockpit

Stefano Carniti

Pilot and Founder of Simulation Project

With over 6,000 hours on the Boeing 737-800 simulator he founded the company in 2018 to bring professional aviation outside flight schools, accessible to people who fly as passengers. Technical but easy-to-understand approach: we explain how an airplane really works by getting you directly at the controls. The course is not psychological therapy — it is the structured sharing of an experienced pilot's knowledge, applied specifically to reduce flying anxiety by helping you understand the world of aviation and its great and unquestioned safety.

Frequently asked questions.

The questions we most often receive before booking. Honest answers, no marketing spin.

Is this a psychotherapy course?

No. The course is not psychological therapy: it is the structured sharing of an experienced pilot's knowledge, applied specifically to reduce flying anxiety by helping you understand the world of aviation and its safety in depth. A professional pilot from our team explains technically what happens during a flight (takeoff, turbulence, landing, noises, safety systems) and then takes you into the cockpit of the Boeing 737-800NG simulator to experience it firsthand.

How long is the course?

4 hours total in a single day: about 3 hours of classroom-style training + 60 minutes at the controls of the Boeing 737-800NG simulator. It takes place at our center in Cinisello Balsamo (Milan), Via Filippo Corridoni 12.

How much does it cost?

€490 for the individual format (one-to-one with the instructor — the most effective), €390 per person in group format (max 8 participants). VAT included. The course can also be purchased as a gift voucher.

Do I need to have flown before to take the course?

No. The course is designed for anyone afraid of flying at any level: from people who haven't flown for years to those who fly occasionally with strong anxiety. No technical skills or simulator experience required.

What do I learn at the simulator controls?

By piloting in person you understand that the aircraft is designed to fly safely even in adverse conditions. You try takeoff, turns, controlled turbulence and landing. You see with your own eyes how the aircraft responds to controls and atmospheric disturbances — technical knowledge is the most powerful remedy for anticipatory anxiety.

Who runs the course?

Always a professional pilot from the Simulation Project team. Courses are coordinated by Stefano Carniti, founder and courses manager, pilot with over 6,000 hours on the Boeing 737-800 simulator. The course is not psychological therapy: it is the structured sharing of an experienced pilot's knowledge, applied specifically to reduce flying anxiety.

Can I gift the course?

Yes. It is available as a gift voucher: the recipient gets a voucher valid 12 months and can book the date when they feel ready. It's a very effective gift for someone who has postponed an important trip due to fear of flying.

Does it really work?

The course doesn't promise to eliminate fear, but to transform it into informed knowledge. Most people afraid of flying are afraid of the unknown: noises they don't understand, movements they interpret as problems, maneuvers they fear are pilot errors. Receiving precise information from a professional pilot and experiencing those same situations in a certified simulator is one of the most effective documented educational approaches for mild to moderate aerophobia.

Can I take the course alone or with a family member?

Both formats are available. The individual format (€490) is the most effective and customizable on your specific triggers — it's the one we recommend. The group format (€390/person, max 8 participants) is more affordable and works very well because you realize you're not alone: connecting with others with similar fears is a relief in itself.

Where does the course take place?

At Simulation Project center, Via Filippo Corridoni 12, Cinisello Balsamo (Milan). The center hosts the Boeing 737-800NG simulator with a 1:1 replica cockpit used by professional flight schools.
